Two-factor authentication: turn it on, sign in, recover
Turn on a 6-digit code from any authenticator app at every sign-in, keep your 10 recovery codes, and what to do if you lose your phone.
What it is
Two-factor authentication in Schedchie adds a second step to every sign-in. After your password, or after Google, Schedchie asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. The app makes a new code every 30 seconds, so someone who has your password still cannot sign in without your phone, and 10 single-use recovery codes cover the day the phone is gone.
It is off until you turn it on, and it works the same on every plan.
Turn it on
Open Settings
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Two-factor authentication and click Turn on.
Add Schedchie to your authenticator app
Scan the QR code with any authenticator app: Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy and the like. If you cannot scan it, click Can't scan? Enter this key manually and type the key into the app instead. Then click Next.
Enter the code
Type the 6-digit code the app shows and click Verify. Nothing changes on your account until the code checks out. The setup expires after 15 minutes; if it does, click Start again.
Save your recovery codes
Schedchie shows 10 recovery codes. Copy them or download them as a .txt file and keep them somewhere other than your phone. Tick I have saved these codes, then click Done.
Recovery codes
- You get 10. Each one works once, anywhere a code from your app is asked for.
- They are shown only once, right after you turn two-factor on. Schedchie cannot show them again.
- Settings shows how many you have left.
- To get a new set, click New recovery codes in Settings and enter a current code or a recovery code. The new set replaces the old one, and the old codes stop working.
Signing in
Sign in as you always do, with your email and password or with Google. Schedchie then asks for the code from your authenticator app, or one of your recovery codes. Enter it and you are in.
- The code step lasts five minutes. After that, or after five wrong codes, start again from your password.
- Too many wrong codes lock the code step for a few minutes. The sign-in page says how long.
- When you connect an AI assistant over MCP, its Schedchie sign-in page asks for the code too.
Turn it off
In Settings → Two-factor authentication, click Turn off, then enter your password and a current code from your app or a recovery code. An account that signs in only with Google is asked for the code alone. Sign-ins go back to your password or Google alone, and your recovery codes stop working.
Lost your phone
Sign in with one of your recovery codes in place of the code from the app. Then, in Settings, turn two-factor off and on again to add Schedchie to the authenticator app on your new phone, and save the new recovery codes.
