Schedchie in VS CodeEditor

Copilot in VS Code writes the posts. Schedchie publishes them.

VS Code connects to Schedchie’s MCP server at mcp.schedchie.com/mcp and gets up to 88 tools for the accounts in your workspace. Schedchie is a flat-price social media scheduler for 20 platforms: Pro is €9.99 a month, with MCP included.

  • Add Schedchie under MCP Servers in VS Code: HTTP and the Schedchie URL, saved as Copilot Global.
  • Accept the trust prompt and sign in to Schedchie in your browser.
  • Copilot agent mode; on Business and Enterprise an admin turns on the MCP policy first.

Setting up VS Code

Add Schedchie under MCP Servers in VS Code and sign in in your browser. Copilot in agent mode then schedules the posts for your release.

Requirements

Organizations
On Copilot Business and Enterprise the organization policy “MCP servers in Copilot” is off by default. An admin turns it on before any MCP server works.
Version
VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot.
  1. VS CodeOpen

    Open MCP Servers

    1. Chat: Open Customizations
    2. MCP Servers
    3. Add Server (+)

    With Copilot selected in the Session Target dropdown, run Chat: Open Customizations from the Command Palette, select MCP Servers, then Add Server (+) in the User group. MCP: Add Server starts the same flow.

  2. VS CodeAdd

    Choose HTTP and paste the URL

    1. HTTP (HTTP or Server-Sent Events)

    Choose HTTP (HTTP or Server-Sent Events), paste the Schedchie URL and enter schedchie as the server ID.

    Server URL
    https://mcp.schedchie.com/mcp
  3. VS CodeConfig

    Save it for every workspace

    1. Global
    2. Copilot Global

    Select Global, then Copilot Global. VS Code writes this entry to ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json.

    ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json (Global, Copilot Global)
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "schedchie": {
          "type": "http",
          "url": "https://mcp.schedchie.com/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  4. VS CodePrompt

    Call list_accounts in Copilot chat

    In Copilot chat, ask for your connected Schedchie accounts. That runs list_accounts, which returns the account ids the other Schedchie tools take.

Three prompts for VS Code, with the tools they call

  • Turn the release notes into a LinkedIn post and a Bluesky post, and schedule both for tomorrow at 9:00.

    list_accounts, schedule_posts
  • What is scheduled for next week, and did anything fail since Monday?

    list_posts
  • Which posts are waiting for my approval? Approve the LinkedIn one.

    list_pending_approvals, approve_post (Ultra)

Connection details

Same MCP server, permission groups and approvals as the Schedchie web app.

Config
Global, then Copilot Global writes ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json ($COPILOT_HOME/mcp-config.json when COPILOT_HOME is set): mcpServers, type http and the url.
Or the Command Palette
MCP: Add Server starts the same flow; MCP: List Servers shows the server afterwards.
Sign-in
Accept the trust and sign-in prompts; VS Code opens the Schedchie screen in your browser, where you tick what the connection may use.
Only what you tick
Connect VS Code to Schedchie. Your assistant gets up to 88 tools across 20 platforms, and only the permission groups you tick at sign-in.
Video from your phone
Your assistant can hand you an upload link for a video up to 200 MB and 15 minutes, then set your own cover on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube.
Approvals that hold
On Ultra, a teammate's posts wait for your approval, and your assistant can list, approve or reject them from the chat. MCP is included in the €9.99 plan, with no per-account fees.

More about Schedchie in VS Code

Where does VS Code save Schedchie?

With Global, then Copilot Global, in ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json: one server named schedchie under mcpServers, with type http and the url https://mcp.schedchie.com/mcp. No headers and no oauth block. A workspace .vscode/mcp.json still reaches Copilot when it has no input variables.

My company uses Copilot Business. Why do no MCP tools appear?

The “MCP servers in Copilot” policy is off by default on Business and Enterprise. Ask an organization admin to turn it on.

Is the MCP connection billed on top of the plan?

No. It is included on every plan and in the 14-day free trial. Pro is €9.99 a month, flat. Posting to X is paid in X credits, as in the web app.

Are there limits?

Each connection can make up to 120 tool calls a minute. On Pro it gets 300 tool calls an hour, plus 30 session opens that make no call; on Ultra four times that, 1,200 calls and 120 opens.

Can I schedule posts to all 20 platforms from VS Code?

Yes: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Google Business Profile, Discord, Slack, WordPress, Dev.to, Hashnode, Ghost, Pixelfed, Listmonk and X (posting to X is paid in X credits, from €4.99). The connection has up to 88 tools, and approval rules hold as in the web app.

14 days on your own accounts, then €9.99 a month

The assistant connection is included on every plan and in the trial.
