Schedchie is the cheapest unlimited Mastodon scheduler: €7.99 a month flat for unlimited accounts and posts on any Mastodon server, counted against your server's own character limit. Start free trial.

This guide is for anyone who wants to schedule Mastodon posts without paying per account. It covers how Mastodon scheduling actually works, why the character limit is the question most tools get wrong, and what five Mastodon schedulers cost at the two footprints most buyers arrive with: 5 accounts and 10 accounts. Every competitor figure below was read on the vendor's own page on October 5.

The short answer: which Mastodon scheduler to pick

Pick Schedchie. €7.99 a month, flat — unlimited accounts and unlimited posts. One price covers one Mastodon account or forty, on mastodon.social, mas.to, a regional server or the instance your company runs itself. There is no per-channel meter, no scheduled-post ceiling and no social set to buy when you add a second server.

The rest of the market prices Mastodon the way it prices Instagram: per channel, per bundle of channels, or with a cap on how many posts can sit in the queue. That works out to $25 to $50 a month at Buffer, $23 to $39 at Postiz, and $10 to $29 at Fedica for the same footprint. The full table is further down, and the market-wide numbers for every major scheduler live in our social media scheduler pricing index.

Mastodon is one of twelve platforms on the same plan: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Google Business Profile and X. Posting to X is a €4.99 add-on per 30 posts; the other eleven are included in €7.99.

How Mastodon scheduling works, and where the default app stops

Mastodon's API has accepted scheduled posts for years. A client sends a status with a scheduled_at time, and the server holds it until then; the API reference says the time "must be at least 5 minutes into the future". The catch is the client. The stock Mastodon web composer described in the official posting guide at docs.joinmastodon.org has no schedule control, so on the default interface a post goes out when you press Publish.

That leaves three ways to schedule Mastodon posts:

  • A third-party app on one server. Some mobile clients expose the API's scheduling field. They work for one account on one server and stop there.
  • A script. If you write code, the API is open. You then maintain the script, store the tokens and notice when a post fails.
  • A scheduler. A tool that connects your accounts once, queues posts on a calendar and publishes them on time, across Mastodon and every other network you run.

For one person with one hobby account, the first option is enough. For a brand, a newsroom, a project with an account on two servers, or a social manager running client accounts, the third is the only one that scales, and it is where pricing starts to matter.

The real buyer question: your server's character limit

Mastodon is federated. Every server is its own installation with its own settings, and the character limit is one of them. 500 is only the default. When we measured live servers through their own /api/v2/instance endpoint, mastodon.social answered 500, mas.to answered 1,000, and forks of the Mastodon software answered as high as 11,000.

Mastodon character limits on three servers, read from each server's own instance endpoint
ServerCharacter limit it reportsWhat a hardcoded 500 does
mastodon.social500Matches
mas.to1,000Refuses posts the server would accept
Larger-limit forksUp to 11,000Refuses posts the server accepts, up to 22 times longer than 500

A scheduler that hardcodes one number gets one of two things wrong. Hardcode 500 and the composer refuses a 900-character post that your mas.to account would publish without complaint. Hardcode something higher and the composer accepts a post that mastodon.social then rejects at publish time, hours after you stopped looking. Buffer's own Mastodon page tells users they have "up to 500 characters to express yourself".

Schedchie does it the other way. When you connect, it asks your server for its limit, stores that number on the account, and both the composer and the publisher count against it. Connect a 500-character account and a 1,000-character account in the same workspace and each one is held to its own server's number. A post that fits is a post that publishes.

The same applies to attachments. Most servers allow four images per post, and Schedchie reads the attachment limit from your instance too. Images go up as PNG, JPG or WEBP; video goes up as MP4, WebM, MOV or Ogg, one per post, within the server's size limit (about 99 MB on stock Mastodon). The Mastodon platform page lists the full set.

What Schedchie does on Mastodon

Every item below is in the product today, on the €7.99 plan.

Mastodon post types and options in Schedchie
FeatureWhat you get
Any serverType your server's address and connect. Schedchie registers itself with that server the first time anyone connects there, so there is no allowlist and nothing to wait for.
Your server's character limitRead at connect time, enforced by the composer and the publisher.
Statuses with mediaText with images or a video, up to your server's attachment limit (4 on most).
Alt textAn image-description field on every post. Mastodon's culture expects it; Schedchie treats it as a field, not an afterthought.
Polls2 to 4 answers, single or multiple choice, running from 5 minutes to 7 days.
Content warningsSet the warning text and the post publishes collapsed behind it. The preview shows it collapsed too.
Sensitive mediaMark images as sensitive so they arrive blurred.
Every visibilityPublic, unlisted, followers-only or direct, chosen per post.
HashtagsA hashtag field per platform, so your Mastodon tags differ from your Instagram ones.
No duplicate postsEvery publish carries an idempotency key, so a network timeout that actually succeeded cannot post twice on retry.
AnalyticsFollower growth for the account plus favourites, boosts and replies on each post, next to every other network in Schedchie analytics.

Mastodon access tokens do not expire on standard servers, so a connected account stays connected until you revoke it. You do not come back after a month to find the queue stalled on a re-login.

The composer is shared with the other eleven platforms. Write once, then adjust the Mastodon version: a longer text for a 1,000-character server, a content warning the Instagram version does not need, a poll that only exists on Mastodon. The same post can go to Bluesky and Threads at the same time, each held to its own limit. For bulk work, CSV import loads a month of posts at once and returns a fix-me file listing any row that needs a change.

Mastodon scheduler prices at 5 and 10 accounts

Headline prices are written for one channel. Buyers rarely have one. A brand on Mastodon usually also runs Bluesky, Threads, LinkedIn and Instagram, which is five accounts before a second server or a second brand enters the picture. So the table prices 5 and 10 connected accounts, using each vendor's own published rate.

Prices verified on October 5, 2026, on each vendor's own pricing page.

Monthly cost of Mastodon schedulers at 5 and 10 connected accounts, prices verified on October 5, 2026

Schedchie€7.99/mo€7.99/moUnlimited posts, unlimited accounts
Buffer Essentials ($5 per channel, billed yearly)$25/mo$50/moUp to 2,000 scheduled posts
Postiz Standard (5) / Team (10)$29/mo, $23 billed yearly$39/mo, $31 billed yearlyCapped at 5 and 10 channels

Fedica Grow$29/mo, $19 billed yearly$29/mo, $19 billed yearlyUp to 2,000 scheduled posts at once

Read the table from the right. Schedchie is the only row with nothing in the last column to run into: no account cap and no queue cap, at €7.99 on both footprints. Add an eleventh account, a twentieth, a second Mastodon server for a client, and the Schedchie row does not move. The Buffer row moves by $5 per channel, the Postiz row moves to the next tier, and the Fedica rows cap the queue.

Over a year the gap is concrete. Ten accounts on Buffer Essentials cost $600 billed yearly. Ten accounts on Postiz Team cost $372 billed yearly. Ten accounts on Schedchie cost €95.88, and so do fifty.

The Mastodon schedulers, one by one

1. Schedchie: the cheapest unlimited Mastodon scheduler

€7.99 a month, flat — unlimited accounts and unlimited posts. Schedchie is the only plan in the table above that leaves both accounts and posts uncapped at its price, which is what makes it the cheapest unlimited social media scheduler for Mastodon users and everyone else.

On Mastodon specifically, it connects to any server, reads that server's character and attachment limits, and publishes statuses, polls, content warnings, alt text and every visibility level from the same composer that runs the other eleven platforms. When approvals matter, the Team plan at €24.99 a month adds account groups, post approvals and client review links, which suits agencies running Mastodon accounts for several clients.

If you already work in ChatGPT or Claude, the Schedchie MCP server at mcp.schedchie.com lets you schedule from there too; the AI page shows the setup. It is opt-in, and the dashboard stays exactly as it is.

Best for: anyone running more than one account, more than one server, or Mastodon next to other networks.

2. Buffer

Buffer lists Mastodon profiles as a supported channel on its pricing page, with automatic publishing and basic analytics included. Pricing is per channel: Essentials is $5 a month per channel billed yearly ($60 per channel per year), so 5 accounts cost $25 a month and 10 cost $50. Team is $10 per channel. Buffer's Mastodon page states that paid plans can schedule up to 2,000 posts and that the free plan holds 10 scheduled posts at a time.

The per-channel model is the issue for Mastodon users in particular. People on Mastodon tend to run accounts on several servers, or a personal account next to a project account, and every one of those is another $5. Our Schedchie vs Buffer page runs the comparison across all platforms, and the long-form Buffer comparison covers the plan details.

3. Postiz

Postiz lists Mastodon among its supported platforms on every plan. Its plans are bundles of channels with unlimited posts: Standard is $29 a month ($23 billed yearly) for 5 channels, Team is $39 a month ($31 billed yearly) for 10, Pro is $49 ($39 yearly) for 30, and Ultimate is $99 ($79 yearly) for 100.

The bundles mean the price is set by your account count, and the jump comes at fixed steps: a sixth account moves you from $29 to $39. At 5 accounts Postiz costs $23 a month on yearly billing; at 10 accounts, $31. Schedchie stays at €7.99 at both.

4. Fedica

Fedica's Mastodon page says posts and polls schedule to Mastodon on its free plan. The free plan connects one account per platform and holds up to 10 scheduled posts. Paid plans connect 15 accounts: Publish at $15 a month ($10 billed yearly) holds up to 100 scheduled posts at once, Grow at $29 ($19 yearly) holds up to 2,000, and Research at $129 ($79 yearly) up to 5,000.

Fedica meters the queue, not the accounts. That works until your calendar fills. A team that plans a month ahead across five or six networks reaches 100 queued posts quickly, and the next step is $19 to $29 a month. Schedchie has no queue limit at €7.99.

5. Publer

Publer's help centre states that "All Mastodon accounts, from all servers are supported", and its Mastodon guide covers scheduling posts and polls. The Professional plan starts at $5 a month for 1 social account, and Business starts at $10 a month for 1 account; above that, the price comes from a calculator on Publer's plans page, which does not publish fixed figures for 5 or 10 accounts in a form we can quote. The structure is still per account, so the price rises with every account you add. Our Schedchie vs Publer comparison covers the rest.

6. Typefully

Typefully lists Mastodon among its platforms, alongside X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Instagram. It is a writing-first tool built around text networks. Its pricing page does not render plan prices outside a browser session, so we do not quote a figure here. Platform coverage is the dividing line: Typefully's list stops at six networks, while Schedchie covers twelve, including TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook, Telegram and Google Business Profile. The Schedchie vs Typefully page has the detail.

For completeness: Loomly's pricing page, read the same day, lists its integrations as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Business Profile and Threads, without Mastodon, so it is not in this comparison. For other schedulers, our alternatives page collects every comparison we publish.

How to schedule Mastodon posts with Schedchie

  1. Start the trial. Create an account. The 14-day free trial includes every platform on the plan.
  2. Connect Mastodon. Choose Mastodon, type your server's address (for example mastodon.social or mas.to), and approve Schedchie on your server's own sign-in page. Schedchie reads your server's character and attachment limits at this step.
  3. Write the post. The character counter runs against your server's number. Add images with alt text or a video, set a content warning, pick the visibility, or switch the post type to a poll.
  4. Pick a time. Choose the date and time on the calendar. Add Bluesky, Threads or any other connected account to the same post if it goes out everywhere.
  5. Schedule. The post sits in the calendar until its time, then publishes. Each account shows its own outcome, so you can see at a glance that the Mastodon version went live.

Repeat step 2 for each additional server. There is no extra charge for the second account, or the tenth.

Who needs a Mastodon scheduler, and what to check before you buy

Three groups get the most out of one:

  • Organisations with a presence on several networks. Universities, newsrooms, open-source projects and public bodies that moved part of their audience to Mastodon and kept the rest elsewhere. One calendar for all of it is the point.
  • Agencies and freelancers. Client accounts on different servers, each with its own limit, each approved by a different person. Schedchie's per-account limits and the Team plan approvals cover both halves.
  • Creators who post in bursts. Writing a week of posts on Sunday and letting them go out through the week.

Before you pay for any Mastodon scheduler, check four things:

  1. Does it read your server's limit? Connect a non-default server and type past 500 characters. If the composer stops you on a server that allows 1,000, the tool is hardcoded.
  2. What does account eleven cost? Per-channel and per-bundle pricing looks small at one account. Price your real footprint, then the footprint you will have in a year.
  3. Is the queue capped? A limit on scheduled posts is a limit on how far ahead you can plan.
  4. Are Mastodon's own features there? Content warnings, alt text, polls and visibility are part of how people post on Mastodon. A scheduler that only sends text and images flattens them.

Schedchie passes all four at €7.99. The pricing page has the plan details.

FAQ

What is the cheapest Mastodon scheduler?

Schedchie is the cheapest unlimited Mastodon scheduler: €7.99 a month flat for unlimited accounts and unlimited posts. At 5 accounts Buffer costs $25 a month and Postiz $23 to $29; at 10 accounts Buffer costs $50 and Postiz $31 to $39 (prices verified October 5). Free plans at Buffer and Fedica hold 10 scheduled posts.

How do I schedule Mastodon posts?

The default Mastodon web interface has no schedule button, so use a scheduler. In Schedchie, connect your account by typing your server's address, write the post, pick a date and time, and press Schedule. The post publishes at that time, counted against your server's own character limit.

Does Schedchie work with any Mastodon server?

Yes. Schedchie registers itself with a server the first time someone connects there, so mastodon.social, mas.to, regional servers and self-hosted instances all work. There is no allowlist.

Can I schedule Mastodon polls and content warnings?

Yes. Polls take 2 to 4 answers, single or multiple choice, and run from 5 minutes to 7 days. A content warning publishes the post collapsed behind your warning text. Both are on the €7.99 plan.

Is Mastodon included in the €7.99 plan?

Yes, like every platform except X, which is a €4.99 add-on per 30 posts. Mastodon, Bluesky, Threads, Instagram and the other networks are all included, with unlimited accounts and unlimited posts.
